Plan, Prepare and Execute
“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” Abraham Lincoln.
Preparing and executing a detailed plan for performance is paramount for any elite athlete wishing to compete at the highest amateur and professional levels. My job is to lay down the foundations to help an athlete reach their goals as well as convey the reality of what it takes to succeed. Getting an athlete to achieve success in the amateur and professional ranks requires team work. I work with specific strategic partners such as physiotherapists, sports psychologists and Emotional Intelligence experts to help an athlete achieve their best.
Coaching an elite player requires the development of their golf IQ as well as their Emotional Intelligence (EQ). Being successful at the elite level of sport goes beyond the field of play and that means being a well-rounded individual on and off the golf course. Mastering Emotional Intelligence will help an athlete control their emotions, improve resilience and self-awareness, and create peak performance on demand.

Each athlete learns and applies information differently, therefore requiring a different strategy. Each program is tailored to the needs of the athlete based on information collected within the following areas:
- The goal
- Tournament schedule
- Practice facilities
- Mental and emotional health
- Technical ability
- Scoring ability
- Statistical analysis
“Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.” Lao Tzu
I work closely with athletes to enable them to take an active role in the planning of their program. Athletes are not always surrounded by their coach or team. By coaching an athlete to plan and execute the process they are better able to take responsibility for, and accept, their performance outcomes. Coaching this way enables them to handle tournament pressures when on their own. It is important to educate and enable an athlete to think for themselves and each athlete I work with will learn how to become the leader in their own games.
