During a junior player’s development, it is important to get out and play on course in a competitive way. There are a number of events a junior can play and at all stages from beginner to elite.
Juniors with no G.A Handicap
NSW- Jack Newton Junior Golf organisation (JNJG) has a series of events for juniors who do not have official G.A handicaps including: Juniors on the Move and Tyro Events. Both of these are very low pressure, fun competitions played over a short course format with modified rules.
Juniors with a G.A Handicap
NSW- Jack Newton Junior Golf organisation has a series of events for juniors who have an official G.A handicap. These events include: The JNJG Tour which comprises 5 Major Tournaments and several events in the Junior Masters Series. The Club Tour is comprised of junior open events run and managed by local clubs.
State Associations throughout the country have events for all juniors. Tournaments for all levels are provided by the state associations and some of these events provide ranking points for juniors to be considered for State and National team selection. Golf Australia is the governing body for golf in Australia. Golf Australia run national tournaments, manage the Rules of Golf and handicap system as well as develop opportunities and programs for all players from grassroots to elite.
